Fossing in Rockville

Our friend John invited us up towards the Central Valley for a ride, and it had been forever since we'd been to Rockville. So we met John, Ashley, and Jason (the new organizer of the Sacramento meet-up) in the middle and hit up one of our favorite parks. Or rather, Rockville hit us.

That’s a wrap

Turned out I had a little time on New Year's Eve for a ride, so I sent out a quick mail and got two responses, one from Jimbo saying he could ride until 12:30, and one from Bevan saying he could ride starting at 12:30. So for me, bonus ride!

Yike East Bay

We've done a lot of work with "Bike" East Bay, particularly supporting Pedalfest where we run learn-to-ride workshops and street/trials demos. And that was even before we knew that their new Executive Director, Ginger Jui was a unicyclist! We got her on a uni at this year's event, helped her work on her free-mounting, and she was hooked. I rode around Lake Merritt with her a few weeks back, and this weekend we organized a Family MUni ride.

Dimond/Joaquin Miller cranker

Of course, we're not just playing basketball. Dragon and I did a big ride, starting at the bottom of Dimond, climbing all the way up to Skyline, and then riding back to my place via Chaparral, Sunset, roads into the back of the cemetery, and then down through the war zone that's the new cemetery construction.

Hoops article

As a reminder that we still play basketball, Berkeleyside just did a nice article and video on the team, with interviews of a number of kids from the youth program. Come out and check us out, starting at 7:30 PM every Tuesday at San Pablo Park in Berkeley.

East Bay Dirt Classic

I got wind of a brand new mountain/cross bike event, the East Bay Dirt Classic, sponsored by the Crocker 510 bike club. This was a pretty epic ride, with 25- and 45- mile versions. We got a group together to do the 25-mile version, which was no walk in the park, boasting over 3000' of climbing, mostly on the steep fire roads of Redwood and Anthony Chabot parks. Me, Yu and Dragon joined up, and the two wheelers were suitably impressed.

PedalFest

We participated again in Bike East Bay's PedalFest event, running learn to ride workshops, demonstrating flatland, street, and trials, and entering the amphibious race. Got a lot of love from the crowd!

Blue Monday

Chris and I had Monday off (Chris because it’s summer, me because consulting works that way), and were looking for...

Doubling it up in Napa

We had a warm but not ridiculously hot day for a two-sporter up at Napa Skyline. There was a beautiful light cloud cover and breeze which took the edge off what would have been a really hot day for MUni. Unlike last time, nobody broke their unicycle, and we had a great time on the Upper Skyline rock gardens and the Manzanita Trail, which we haven't been back to since the 2016 Tubbs Fire.

East Bay JAM

We had a great time at the East Bay JAM. The weather was perfect for MUni, and we wound up doing two rides. In the morning we did a family ride with five riders, including a 9-year-old girl and her dad from Hawaii, and an afternoon ride with eight riders. Plus a bunch of people tried to learn to ride in the meadow. Fun times!
