Nathan’s birthday ride

Nathan invited us down to Silly Valley for a birthday ride around Lexington Reservoir, with a bonus climb and descent over Montevina Road. We had total of five unicycles, all Schlumpfs, four 36ers. Everybody did the loop around Lexington (which was not full like last year, but not empty like two years ago), and then most of us went for the climb. Great day! 

Ed Pratt’s Grand Départ

We sometimes ride on roads, but not like Ed Pratt. He’s been on the road, solo, unsupported, for over two years, starting at his home in southwestern England, and intending to travel around the world in an unbroken line. He’s just arrived in the States, and set off from Fort Point to cross the final continent of his trip.

Epic ride, eh?

Several of our locals (Jim, Nathan, and Ned) participated in the epic Kluane Chilkat race in northern Canada and Alaska, a 150-mile, one-day cycling event, which they planned to do as a relay group of four. They turned out to be the only ones to finish the race.

First-ever uni ride to Treasure Island

I can’t verify it, but I think it’s safe to assume that no one had ever ridden a unicycle to Treasure Island. The old Bay Bridge had no bike path, and while some intrepid cyclists had ridden there on the road, I’m pretty sure they all had at least two wheels. The new East Span has
